There a many different types of binoculars and all have been designed for a purpose. Mini binoculars are great for carrying around for spontaneous use if you spot something. High or zoom magnification binoculars are good for keeping a watch on a stationary position but they are heavy and usually have to be mounted on a tripod to sustain a stable image.
For the average person a general purpose pair of 20mm x 50mm binoculars like these with a 10 x magnification are, in my opinion, give the best all round performance for bird watching, boating, watching sports etc. Light enough to carry and use, with a good magnification combined with a useful field of view.
So with this in mind how do these binoculars perform ? Well before I give my opinion I must say that these binoculars are priced at the budget end of the price scale that go all the way up to over £1000. So when I review these binoculars I have to take into account of their price and rate them accordingly.
These binoculars came in printed box inside was a large carrying pouch containing the binoculars, an instruction leaflet, a lens cleaning cloth and a neck strap. The binoculars have a grained textured rubberised finish which helps stop them slipping while you are holding them. I liked the fact that the objective lens covers are fastened the binoculars and the viewing lens covers could be attached to the neck strap, This reduces the likelihood of losing them.
Once focused and adjusted to my own eyes these binoculars give a bright, clear detailed image with a good field of view and are comfortable to hold and use. Here are the specifications for those interested in these things

For their price I think that these binoculars perform really well and would be ideal for someone looking for a pair at a reasonable price. One little niggle though, the neck strap is very difficult to fit through the fastenings on the binoculars. I had to use a thin pair of scissors to push them through far enough so there was enough of it showing that I could pull it all the way through. If the fastening had been a few millimetres wider that would have been a lot easier to do.
