A few years back we picked up an air mattress to have on hand when company came to visit. We have used it a few times, but have lost the attachments for the pump we had. And honestly, I have no clue where the pump even is any more. Fast foward a little, and one of the campouts we attended had a lot of people who brought similar air mattresses, but realized they had no power to fill their air mattresses up with. This is the pump that could have helped them and will help us in the future when we need to inflate the mattress we keep for guests.
The pump appears to be well made. It has a no kink hose, but it is honestly not very long, so you have to have your foot pump almost right up against whatever you are inflating. The hose nozzle is not very big, so unfortunately I am not able to use it with my air mattress. I don't think you can add new attachments to it, so am not sure how it would work with anything other than inflatables that have the same size opening as the nozzle. The nozzle itself is able to work with items with a diameter of 0.24”-0.31”; 0.31”-0.39”; or 0.59”
It collapses flat and has a small plastic ring that helps hold it shut. I was impressed with how tall the bellows are when it is unlatched compared to how flat it compresses down to. It doesn't take up a huge amount of space, which is good because I already have enough junk crammed in my garage and don't have much room for clunky objects.
I can say you definitely get a leg work out when you use this. I had to keep changing legs when inflating because it took so long. We used it to inflate one of our larger pool inflatables and it did go fairly fast, which surprised me since Amazon reviewers were mixed on whether it was fast or not, but it did work for the task in a timely manner. But oh boy were my legs tired by the end. I know I am not in the best shape, but that was a monumous task!
And then you have the noise. I was NOT prepared for the noise it was going to make. Wow. I sure hope we don't need to inflate something while others are sleeping! It is definitely not a quiet way to do things. Of course, most of the plug in inflaters are just as noisy, so I don't know what the solution would be on that. But it is not going to be a silent task.
I do like the fact you can use this to deflate things, though. That is a handy feature.
And best of all - I used it to blow up some balloons and it worked perfectly! I got used to the noise as we worked, but it made it go so much faster than having to blow them up with our mouths. Yay for that!
Will it work for your needs? Maybe. Is it noisy? Yes! Convenient? Yes. Should you get it? Depends upon what you need it for and how much noise you want to hear while working. But if you are looking for a bonus leg workout, this is pefect. ;-)
