These gloves are great for pulling things out if the oven. Because they are gloves, I have more control over the grip and overall function of my hand. I can use the whole hand or 2 fingers if I wish. I noticed a little warmth but nothing more than a traditional mitt. I can't wait to use for the fireplace. It will be wonderful to add a log in the fireplace without getting burnt. These gloves are pretty roomy and protect a good portion of the forearm. Defently can fit a person with large hands.
