When I saw this lazy tablet stand and holder, I thought the kids might enjoy it. They have been using smaller phone holders to cradle their phone while watching their videos, so I thought this might be something they like. But neither wants to use it! I was shocked. But it is still getting its use...
This holder is interesting, to say the least. It is one solid unit of strong flexible material. I am not sure what it is made of, but it is easy to manipulate in to the shape you want. Yet it is strong enough to stay in place, regardless of the weight of your tablet or phone on it. It has a 360 degree rotating magnetic holder on the end. I was very impressed at the strength of the magnet. It is STRONG! I had a hard time pulling the two magnets off when checking it out and taking pictures.
The package comes with the stand and two magnetic strips to attach tot he back of your device. There is a round strip and a rectangular one. You attach one of these to the back of your phone or tablet and then are able to put your device on the holder easily and remove it when done. If your device has a metal case, you might want to check and see if it is able to stick without the magnetic strip.
My only concern with items like this is the magnet. I have always heard that magnets are bad for electronic devices and can interfere with them, if not entirely scramble things. But after some research on the topic, and many mixed views, I have come to the conclusion that most phones today do not use hard drives to store the data. They use memory cards instead, so you are able to safely (for the most part) use these. Most of the manufacturers of these products use a shielded magnet, though I have no clue how to determine what shielded means and if this product has it. They say for the most part, newer devices don't have any interference issues, and the magnets don't mess with the compass features. Some did report issues with QI charging when the magnet strip is placed on the back of their phones or cases, so keep that in mind if you use wireless charging.
The stand is pretty versatile. Not only can you hang it around your neck and go hands free to watch and work, but you can also set it up on a table or countertop (which is how I use it now with my tablet when cooking, since many of my recipes come from Pinterest or some online source), tuck it under the edge of your matress so that you can lay in bed and watch, or wrap it around the headrest in the car for easy watching during a car ride. I am sure there are more uses for it, but these are the only ones I saw on their page to give you ideas of how it works.
Great stand and holder and very useful tool. I wish the kids had liked it more, and maybe they will as they learn more about it later and want to use it, but for the time being, it is a great addition to my kitchen tools for cooking and baking!
