I have a new coffee table and end tables in my living room, and the last thing I want is to see is water stains and rings left behind. My previous coasters are wood and cork and they are looking pretty shabby now. The cork is peeling off and the wood is looking faded. We have talked about buying new coasters, but haven't agreed on what look, style, and absorbancy we like. I finally just placed my order hoping he would like them.
I wasn't sure these would really work for us when I ordered. My thinking was "Silicone? That isn't absorbant at all!" But the design is great. They are slick silicone on the back, so they won't slip and slide on your furniture, instead sticking in place without damaging your furniture. They also have a small lip on the top that creates a small bowl shape, trapping any moisture and leakage inside. And unlike other coasters of similar designs that I used in the past, these have great absorbant felt inserts in them.
And they are flexible and soft, super light weight. Having a 2 year old who is in to everything and likes to bang things on the tables, I worry about what she will do with coasters that are not soft that might be left down within her reach. She can flop these around, hammer the tables with them, chew on them, smack the dogs upside the head, smack herself in the head, drop them on my toe, whatever and it's okay. No pain. No damage. No upset baby or fleeing dogs (or mom).
My only complaint? I wish I had some storage capability for them. They don't stack well, and there is no container to store them in. I really wish they came with some means of keeping them together in a nice box or something, but they don't. I may buy something for them off of Amazon, since I know there are coaster holders there. I just hate buying something extra after having already bought the coasters. I would rather it had all been included in one package.
