Bought for my indoor cat who used to scratch everything.
She's had a similar one to this in the past but it didn't look as nice because it was just a lump of cardboard, this one is nicer looking with the wood surround.
It can go upright or flat on the ground, my cat likes it flat.
She scratches it quite a bit but they last longer than you would think, plus she loves sleeping on it too!
I would buy one of these again, or maybe a refill if they sell them too.
