We have various coasters in our home, but I liked the look of these and thought they would look good on our kitchen table in case someone needed one for their glass. I figured it would be a lot nicer than using a napkin or paper towel. These are diatomite stone coasters and are meant to be absorbent. I wasn't overly impressed with their absorbency, but they did okay. They work fine for us at dinnertime, though. The coloring on these are swirls of blues and pinks, in a very soft pattern and shades. The shape is hexagonal and they are large enough to hold a drink easily. There are no pads or protective backings on these, so be careful on glass or other surfaces that might scratch. But the stone is not sharp so shouldn't scratch if they slide a little. It wouldn't be hard to add some felt to the back of them, though, just to protect your surfaces better. These are definitely a lot cheaper than the thirsty stones that my parents have at their house, and honestly work about the same. Not too bad for some low cost coasters that look nice.
