Being spherical they disolve slower in your refreshments so they do not get diluted quickly like cubes. I think these are great to have and will buy more of them. They work prrfectly as described. The doft silicone make it easier to remove ice and for cleaning. They should last a very long time too, not lije plastic that cracks from the cold and constant reuse.
