smaller than expected

I bought these clamps for my husband thinking that they would be useful to him for working in his shop. I was totally surprise by how tiny these things really are. The measurements were not exactly clear on the site when ordering and the numbers were all over the place in terms of mm, cm and inches so many there was an error in translating the sizes or perhaps I was just confused by the different numbers. Other buyers said they were confused by the size as well so maybe the description needs some improvement. I was expecting them to be about 6 inches long as stated in the product dimensions. The product dimensions state that the clamps are 5.9 x 1.4 x 3.7 inches but that is extremely inaccurate. The clamps are actually only about 3 inches long (about 4 ½ inches when fully extended) 1 inch wide and 2 inches tall to the highest point.
Even though they are small, they appear to be very well made. The clamp is made of steel with a rubber tip and handle. The plunger rod glides smoothly and the rubber tip doesn’t mar the materials you are working with. The description states that the clamps can hold 99-100 pounds. Since they are so tiny, we probably will never use them for that much weight. My husband makes custom molding for his clients so he is going to mount them on his jig and use these to help hold the molding pieces while he carves them. Each clamp has 3 holes for mounting it to a surface. He says he might order a few more sets to use in his cargo trailer to keep his workbenches from shifting around while traveling to and from worksites.
