The puzzle seems to be made of a light balsalm type wood, not very heavy. My 2 year old son absolutely loves this puzzle. He will do the puzzle, dump out and do again and again. The animals have sweet, happy faces. The wooden pegs make this puzzle very easy for my son to grab and position pieces into place, leading to less frustration and more active learning play.
