Effective but Inefficient

This automatic make-up brush cleaner does the job, but it is not the most efficient product I have used. The package came undamaged and the product was in full working condition. However, it was also taken apart and needed to be put together before you can use it. While it is simple enough, it was just an extra step that really wasn’t needed since the end result could easily have been shipped put together. It also requires two AAA batteries, which are not included. The product is built well and the plastic is sturdy, it does not look as though it would break easily. Although pretty and the reviews seem to imply otherwise, this did not come with any make-up brushes, just the cleaning device and its associated pieces.

The product comes in several pieces and sizes for different brushes. Instead of providing a case, the product only provides a plate that you can click the various brush collars into. However, they are relatively easy to knock off, so the case would have been appreciated. There is also seal and splash guard that goes on the bowl and the clear plastic bowl itself. Finally, you have the actual device and the collars which attach the brush to the device. There is a user manual, but it is not particularly descriptive or helpful as to the best way to use the device. The Amazon listing does, however, provide a decent overview where it says:

“1. Select the best fit collar and push the brush in

2. Connect the collar and the machine with the spindle (machine, spindle, collar and brush should in a straight line)

3. Add 10-20ML liquid brush cleanser into the bowl (liquid height should less than half of the height of the brush bristles)

4. Absorb the bristle with the liquid brush cleanser but avoid let the metal ferrule under the water

5. Switch on the machine. Let the brush spin rapidly.

6. Change pure water

7. Lift the spinning brush out of the liquid but keep inside the bowl and keep spinning to dry

8. Get a clean brush.”

Still, for $15.99 on Amazon, this is a product seems a bit expensive for the benefit that it provides. It does a reasonably good job of cleaning the brushes, but you have to go through three separate steps, keep track of all the collers, and find a good way to store the various pieces of the device. I would give this product a 3 out of 5 stars. It does the job that it is intended to do, but it is inconvenient to keep track of and pricy for the value it provides.
