Frayed on First Use

I decided to order a pair of cut resistant gloves because nearly everyone in my household cooks and my spouse has nicked himself a fair few times. The way I figured it, a pair of cut resistant gloves couldn’t hurt to have on hand. The product arrived undamaged and on time in a plastic bag. The packaging was undamaged as well. The gloves are black and made of a textured material.

I tested these gloves right away after receiving them. I put on the gloves and noted that they are rather heavy which could be cumbersome if you are trying to make fine, even knife cuts. They appear to be designed for larger hands and I felt that the bulkiness did remove from of the smoothness that my movements would normally have. My hands a fairly average size for an adult female. I suspect these gloves would have been a better fit on an average male adult instead.

I tested these gloves with a standard kitchen knife that I use for chopping with a single slice to the fingers (where many kitchen cuts occur). I was not impressed with my results. I did not get cut and the glove did not get cut through, which was a positive. However, the fabric frayed where the knife slid across the finger of the glove badly with just that one cut.

Overall, I would rate this product with a 2 out of 5 stars. When I tested it, I will give the gloves credit that it prevented my hand from being cut when I pulled the knife across the glove. However, I noticed fraying on the fabric on that very first use. I think it would still provide decent protection from a few more cuts after that initial one, but I doubt it would hold up to repeated, long term use when the fabric frayed on one spot after the very first cut. I was not impressed with this and I do not think I would get this particular set of gloves by Carejoy again.
