I recently picked up this small cube styled battery operated clock to put on my desk, though I have the time easily displayed on my computer or can grab my phone to see what the time is. But I thought it might be good to have a small clock on my desk that I could keep available that shows the time, date, and temperature. This one is small, so was the perfect consideration for my needs.
The clock can be powered up in two different ways. You can either use 3 triple A batteries to power it up or you can use a DC 4.5V input and plug it in to any adapter you have. I did happen to have a power cable that worked for it, though I had to go hunting through my cable box to find it, since the box did not include one. I have batteries in it currently since I have enough cords on my desk already and don't need another one to try to plug in.
The unit is designed to give you time, date, and provide an alarm. It also offers and Indoor thermometer with a range of 0C~+50C to +32F~+122F. They do say that it has errors, though, and is for reference only. I did not take it in to the hallway where our digital thermostat is to see if they can display the same info. I trust that it is relatively accurate since I am comfortable with the temperature it is displaying and don't doubt it based on my experience in this room. My corner is always warmer than the rest of the room, thanks to the computer and electronics that are always going, so it seems to be accurate in its display.
There are also two small buttons on the bottom so you can tap the clock or apply small pressure to the top and it lights up in various colors. It will flash as it goes through the colors, too, then return to a resting state. Or you can set it to stay on, which allows it to transition through the various colors. You can change it from military time to display am or pm, too.
I did not try the alarm feature on it, though I can easily set it. The lights are supposed to flash and come on, too, when the alarm goes off, which is something unique to this clock and not something I am used to seeing in an alarm. I may try it out in my room soon and see if the alarm and lights are effective in waking me up compared to my normal alarm.
I was actually quite impressed with how easy this is to operate. I did look at the manual to figure out how to change it from Celsius to Fahrenheit. But even that was very simple and worked instantly. So I honestly cannot tell you how loud the alarm is or how well that function works since I did not test it.
I am quite pleased with how it works. It is proving to be a great battery operated clock with nice features. I am hoping the kids don't try to steal it off my desk and take it to their room.
