Sad disappointment - it doesn't even turn on.

I got this for Father's Day, it was going to be perfect so Dad could see when he went to the gun safe, especially at night.  It looked very well made and easy to use.  The instruction manual was written so I could figure out what they were trying to say - yep, not written by an American - but acceptable.  I put in my batteries, expecting to see nice bright light, and nope.  So I thought maybe it was a fluke and the batteries were bad, so I got new batteries and tried again.  Bummer.  No bueno.  Thinking I must have done something wrong in installing, even though it was pretty straightforward, I re-read the Amazon listing and then checked out the reviews.  Hey there, guess what?! Someone else got this product and it didn't work either.  Dang it.  Anyway, I have now printed out the return label and its sitting by the back door for the UPS driver to pick it back up and I am supposed to get a refund.  I would have added a picture to this review but why bother, no light came on to take a picture of.
