This clipper and nail file combination pack works nicely, but there are some very slight drawbacks. The package arrived in good condition without any damage. The product was packaged and labeled well, so there was no confusion. The products are the same combination of black and green (plus silver in this case for the actual tool part) that I am beginning to associate with Pecute products as a whole. I enjoy the fact that their products follow the same color scheme and match nicely together. Both products appear reasonably well-built and I don’t have any concerns about them falling apart with repeated use. They are also quite affordable at only $9.99 on Amazon. As a set, that makes it about $5.00 for each product.
This clipper and nail file combination pack obviously comes with both a nail clipper and a file to use after you clip your dog’s nails. The clipper is appropriately sharp and designed well enough to give the user good leverage to clip through their dog’s nails. Both products have a comfortable, soft grip that allows them to be used and manipulated with relative ease. Both grips are also slightly textured, which makes it easy to keep a consistent and steady grip while you are working with these products. There is a hole at the base of each grip, which is nice if you prefer to hang your pet care tools as opposed to keeping them stored in a drawer or basket somewhere.
There is a locking mechanism on the clipper to keep it safely closed when the product is not in use, which is a nice touch since it is a good safety measure and also helps keep the clippers sharp longer since the sharp edge is not being constantly strained it they knock into something. The file was a reasonable size, however, one of the drawbacks of the product was that the file was a bit too big to easy manipulate around a smaller dog’s nails. It is certainly doable, but it could be tricky if you aren’t used to filing your dog’s nails.
Overall, I would give these a 4 out of 5-star rating. They would have received a 5-star rating if the file was a bit smaller so that it would be slightly easier to move it around the claw. That said, remember that no matter how good the product is, some dogs just really dislike having their claws trimmed or filed. Make sure you are careful with them, especially if your pet reacts badly to having his or her claws groomed.
