I have been looking for the perfect reading lamp as my eyes have gotten older and I need more and more light. It happens. I have tried many types of lamps, but until I purchased this one, I was not satisfied. What I like best about this lamp, besides that it is dimmable and has different types of "light" (soft, white, etc), the neck of the lamp is totally flexible and the height of the lamp can be adjusted. By taking out one of the sections on the stand, I was able to place it at a height that is perfect next to my chair. This allows the light to shine directly on what I am reading, and not in my eyes or my husband's eyes. We liked my light so well, that we purchased a second one for my husband's reading chair. This is the best reading lamp I have found, and I have tried several.
