~ What ~
Made of a heavy-duty aramid synthetic fabric with silicone webbing, this pair of thick black gloves can be worn anytime one is handling extremely hot or cold items. Red and blue silicone lines cover the palms, fingers, and thumbs for protection. Being approximately 14-inches long, they fit most hands, cover the wrists, and can handle temperatures ranging from 932 degrees Fahrenheit for up to 15 seconds.
~ Why ~
As a fan of flexible cooking mitts that have cotton inserts, I cannot tell you how reliable these gloves are. Not only do I use them to pull out hot dishes from the oven or when I have to cut apart frozen chicken, but the other day I used them to open a tight jar and pull out an oven rack. One can grip the hot or cold object easily without any slippage. I love how they are flexible and easy to use compared to the all-silicone type that are awkward. Having white loops on the hand inserts make them easy to hang.
~ Why Not ~
Some may think there is no way these heat-resistant gloves are going to keep my hands from burning, but they do. I have not burnt my hand once using these, and it helps they cover part of my wrists and arms as I reach into the back of the oven.
~ Wish ~
I wish more items made out of aramid and silicone were available as it does keep the extreme temperature away from your hand plus make you feel confident you are not going to drop a slippery item. I wish cleaning instructions were included in the zip-lock bag.
~ Want ~
If you are looking for a nice gift for the barbequer, baker, cook, camper, or anyone who deals with hot or cold items, this is an ideal choice.
