When I was growing up my parents marked our height progress on the pull out door that closed off the entry from our kitchen, that way if they ever wanted to move and sell the house, they could change out the door and we didn't have to leave it for the next owners (they painted over the previous owner's kids' height marks on the door jamb). I have now lived in two homes and have not marked my kids' growth because of this. I didn't want to leave it behind. I wanted to keep it. But the only height charts I have seen in the past are ones that can't be taken with you because they are stuck to the wall and lose their sticky when pulled off. I was thrilled to see this one instead and thought we'd get it for little miss who is now 3. I like that this is something that can be taken down and moved around, so we can put it in the main living area, in her bedroom, move it from one wall to another in her bedroom, or put it away entirely between measurements if we want. The problem i always have is figuring out exactly how high to go when hanging it to be sure it is exact and correct. I am always worried I didn't measure correctly. But regardless, this one is super long, so you get a lot of measurement space on it! I have never seen anyone continue marking their kids' height after they got so old, but some families may and some have some very tall children compared to the shorties in my family. This is well made, super durable and thick, so even if it gets moved often, it should hold up. It can be wiped clean. It comes with stickers to put on for your kids that you write on. And it is adorable! It has wood slats on both ends to help stabilize it when hanging and which help serve as stability for when it is rolled up. I think it is an awesome height chart and can't wait to start tracking little missie's growth!
