There is nothing I hate more than having to get out in the back yard and pick up the dog piles. Having a larger dog we have larger piles, so have always used a larger shovel and scooping pan to shove it in to. But the handles were getting quite worn and it was time to get something new. I was offered this scooper to test out and thought why not. I had a very hard time putting it together and almost gave up. It did not simply snap in to place like it was supposed to and when I would think I had it and go to pull the lever at the top in the handle to open the claws on the end it would snap apart. I was getting quite frustrated. We finally resorted to getting out a rubber mallet and pounding it down until it was fully seated in place. As we were doing it I was convinced we would break the entire contraption since it is made of plastic. But we didn't. And it finally stayed together and worked as intended. I have been using it now for awhile and it is working fine. The only problem I am finding with it is that it leaves little bits behind where the poop sticks to the ground. Unlike my other set, I can't scrape up the excess and make sure it is all picked up fully. I have to go back with the water hose and spray the leftovers away. It also doesn't quite wrap all the way around everything, so often cuts it in half or smooshes it, which disgusts me. Then I have to be sure to spray the claws down to make sure there is nothing left on them after using it. But it works a lot easier than the other set since it is one handed and I can easily go around and pick up the piles quickly, returning later to spray down the troubled spots where there are remnants remaining. Not a bad pooper scooper, but not something I would carry with me to the dog park or on a walk as it is big and bulky. But great for a quick clean up in the backyard.
