This is a smart looking two slice toaster, with the much needed added practicality of 1.5 inch wide slots for your bread, so that if you especially like big, chunky doorstep slices like I do, then it’s perfect for you.

The product comes with a two year manufacturer’s guarantee – you only get a one year guarantee with certain comparable toasters.

The toaster has a contemporary design ethic with a lightweight stainless steel body. The centre part of the body is steel finish and the sides are a funky, nicely contrasting cardinal red colour.

You lower and raise your bread slices with an easy action lever. The lever rises to a point very near to the top of the toaster, so that browned slices are easy to remove, but they’re not raised so high that they might topple out.

There’s a smooth acting rotary control knob to set the amount of browning, I leave it more or less at the halfway point to get all over evenly browned toast. There’s an easy to remove crumb tray located at the base of the toaster in the usual way, so that it’s no ordeal to remove accumulated crumbs from time to time.

There are three raised control buttons adjacent to the lever. One button is to cancel toasting and eject immediately. The next button is to set the toaster for defrosting - that setting works very well in my experience, I always keep a frozen loaf in the freezer for when you’ve forgot to replenish your fresh bread in the kitchen. The defrost is slow enough that I don’t end up with mushy bread that ruins the texture of my toast.

The last button is for the quick reheat function, for when you’ve let your yummy doorstep slice cool down a bit too much before eating and just need a fast reheating. That function works well too, I never find that the reheat goes over the top and burns my toast.

You always know when a particular button has been switched on because it has an LED light which illuminates bright red and is clearly visible.

The toaster comes with a built in lead and a pre-fused 3 pin socket plug. The lead has a handy length of 39 inches, so you don’t necessarily need to stand the toaster immediately adjacent to a socket along your kitchen work surface.

The product is supplied with a handy 6 page instruction manual that’s well written in plain English, with a comprehensive safety section, product overview, user guide to cover all the aforementioned functions, and some cleaning and maintenance advice. It’s a 5 minute read and not rocket science to comprehend.

In summation, I think that this is a very well priced, reliable, user friendly and effective toaster, with the added capability of impressively wide slots. The sizing of the slots means that I can cut freshly made bread from my local baker into nice big doorsteps and still easily slide them inside for toasting.

I couldn’t do this with my previous toaster because it had significantly narrower slots. This was obviously okay for narrower pre-sliced bread, but a real pain to use if I was slicing freshly made bread myself - as often as not I’d be trying to wedge my chunky slices inside and then making a right mess of crumbs on my kitchen work surface.

So, no such messiness or inconvenience anymore and I’m a very happy bunny with this device.
