Great kazoo

  We have had the pleasure of testing out a few products from Mugig and have loved them all. My self-taught musician is always looking to see what new products they have available and went nuts when he saw this tinplate kazoo listed. He begged me to get it for him. I never thought he would want a kazoo of all things, being so caught up in his guitar playing. But he did, and I went ahead and picked it up. Of course, he won't get to try it out for another week, since he and his brother just went to their dad's house for Spring Break.   This kazoo comes in a nice plushie drawstring bag and with instructions. It is lightweight and looks great. It has a tinplate finish that is corrosion-resistant, safe, and non-toxic. It is well tapered to maximize sound quality and amplify the music you make. The circular piece on top has a thin membrane in it that plays a part in the sounds the kazoo makes, though I do not know how it works. You get two additional membrane replacements with this set, too. The top part of the round portion screws on and off to allow you to change the membrane out.   A kazoo is played not by blowing into it, but rather by making sounds in your throat - singing or humming the song you wish to play. The kazoo them amplifies those sounds and vibrations, making it seem like the kazoo is making the sound rather than your throat. It is the membrane that vibrates and the tapered shape that allows the kazoo to take the sounds in your throat and play them as music.   Many musicians have used kazoos in their music, so it is not just a toy for kids' parties. Jimi Hendrix and Red Hot Chili Peppers have been known to use kazoos, which is probably why my son wants one so much. He does a lot of band and music research, so has probably seen this in his digging around and recognizes that it can be a great tool for his guitar playing and music.   Since this is a tinplate kazoo, it requires a bit more care than a homemade kazoo or a wooden or plastic one. It requires you to clean it properly and keep it dry. Food particles and moisture build up will reduce to clarity of sound and eventually break it all down rendering it useless. So be sure to clean it properly and dry it after each use.   If you are looking for a good kazoo to add to your music collection for whatever reason you want to use it for - whether as a fun toy and noisemaker or as accompaniment for your current instrument - it is a great instrument and well made.
