Hard to Melt but Works Well

I purchased these Wax Tablets by Michelle Dore because I am getting married next year and I want to be able to seal my invitations with wax, because I love the aesthetic touch that adds to any mailing. These tablets did take a few weeks to arrive, but they arrived within the estimated date of arrival so that was expected. The package arrived undamaged, but also unimpressive. The 100 tablets are in a plastic baggy; they are not sorted at all either so you have to rummage through to find the color that you want. The baggy was also slightly stained, but that was not particularly concerning.

There were some perks and some cons to this product. The biggest perk that I found is that each tablet is approximately the perfect size for a standard size wax seal, so you don’t waste a lot of wax but you always have enough for the seal’s image to form.   They are still small enough, however, that if you want to mix two of the colors you don’t end up with way too much wax. You also get a nice variety of colors to try out, which is great if you want to mix and match or get a particular color for your seals.

I found two major cons for this product. First, it can be tricky to melt down the wax. With the wax sticks, you can melt it over the page and let it drip into a circle. That is hard to do with this because of the size of the tablets. I have included a picture of one of the tablets next to a quarter for a size comparison. To solve this problem, I used a wax warmer to met down the wax tablets but it did cost me some of the wax. The second major con had more to do with the packaging. The clear baggie is not particularly hardy and these tablets are small. They aren’t sorted by color and could easily end up all over the floor if you dropped it and the bag popped.

Still, I overall really like these wax tablets. I would give this product a 4 out of 5 stars. It would have been a nice touch to include a brief set of instructions on how to seal an envelope for people who have never done it before or to arrange the package by color.
