My cats adore this wand toy. It's definitely not your average cat toy wand from Walmart that falls apart after a few uses. (I've had several of those too.) I attached one of the feather attachments first and my two kittens chased it around and batted at it for a solid fifteen minutes before getting tired. We joked that we were fishing for kittens! Haha. The soft cloth caterpillars are really cute and unique too! It's really easy to open the metal clip at the end and attach the replacement toys through the small loop. It's also pretty cool that you could easily go to an outdoor store that sells fishing lures and jigs, etc. and get all kinds of different things that could attach to the end of the line since it would just need to have a small loop or jump ring on it. (Obviously you wouldn't want to get anything with a hook!) The telescoping of the pole actually works really well and it fits snugly enough when I pull it out that it doesn't have any tendency to close up again unless I do it intentionally. The plastic it's made out of is light and flexible but feels pretty strong and sturdy like it will hold up well as long as it's not stepped on or snapped over something hard, basically you just have to use common sense, and the clear line is very strong and attached well to the pole with strong crimps. After about 3-4 days of use my cats have chewed off one of the feathers from the attachment piece but that's 100% to be expected so I wouldn't take a star away for that at all. A long way down the road I might also have to replace the line but that would be really simple too - either with some fishing line and few crimps from a hardware store or just by tying a piece of yarn or string onto the holes on the pole. I also figured out that, if I close it all up to make it as short as possible and reduce the stress on it, it actually wedges really well between two of the slats on the back of my kitchen chairs and they can play with it all by themselves when I'm in the middle of other things. This is a really fun toy and we're having fun bonding with the kitties through play and making sure they get some exercise. :)
