Bright and easy to use

My family spends a lot of time outdoors thanks to the active lifestyle we have and all of the Scouting activities we do. A few years back, my brother (who has climbed most of the mountains on the West Coast and is an avid hiker) took us on a local starter climb. We met at 4am to head out and he provided us with headlamps and hiking sticks since we had nothing of our own. We quickly learned the importance of having these tools and have been picking up our own items ever since.

I was impressed with the way this headlamp looked when I saw it on Amazon and wanted to add it to our collection, since we have gotten others that are much bulkier than this one. The straps on the top are adjustable, so I can use it or my kids, who have smaller heads than I do, can adjust it to fit them. It is snug when adjusted and the straps don't slip or move at all. No matter how much bouncing around or jumping you do while hiking, it won't come undone or readjust.

There is one bright light on the lamp. You can click the button on top to turn the light on. But it also has a button on the side that is for sensing mode. I love this idea because you can turn it on with the sensing button, then simply wave your hand in front of it to get it to come on. Such a neat idea! Not sure how to use that when hiking or camping, but I guess it would be good for camping and night trips to the bathroom.

It does not come with batteries and is not one that you can plug in and charge up. So you will need to take extra batteries with you when you are out and about and using it, just in case you use up all your battery juice. It is powered by three triple A batteries and should last for over 5 hours. The lumens on this lamp are 200.

I cannot begin to tell you how awesome this is. While it is definitely heavier and larger than I am used to using, it is also much more powerful and has a wider range. I am very impressed with this and foresee a lot of use from this, not to mention a lot of fighting from the kids over who gets to use it on which campout.

I definitely, highly recommend this headlamp to anyone who spends time outdoors in the dark. This would be perfect for working on things outside when you need light and don't have something to turn on nearby or can't hold the flashlight yourself. And if you are an outdoor enthusiast, this is something that can come in handy. The charging capabilities makes it much more convenient than carrying additional batteries, too.
