Decent but not impressive

When you order these reusable ice cubes from the link below, you receive 12 ice cubes in two packages of six. The design on the packaging was pretty, but ultimately had little to do with the package other than offering a hint of fun activities. Still, it was bright and eyecatching which I found enjoyable. Each ice cube is just a bit smaller than a standard ice tray ice cube. The directions indicate that you should cool them in the fridge, instead of the freezer. I tried the ice cubes several times and re-froze them between uses, but I ultimately was not that impressed.

After allowing them to cool overnight initially, I used eight of the ice cubes in a standard wine glass of Moscato. The wine was already chilled when I put the ice cubes in and it appeared to stay chilled a bit longer than normal but it was not a noticeable difference. The wine did not get any colder, but merely maintained its cool temperature for a bit longer.

Deciding to try a smaller glass, I refroze the ice cubes for about eight hours and put all 12 cubes into a mug, as shown in the picture. This evening, I filled the mug with juice that was in the refrigerator and it quickly returned to room temperature outside of the fridge. That said, I will also note that it was 80 degrees outside at my home and the inside was a bit warm as well.

Overall, I would say that the ice cubes somewhat lengthened the amount of time that it took both drinks to return to room temperature, but the difference was not particularly impressive. That said, it was nice that I did not need to worry about the drink getting diluted or watered down by the ice. I think the ice cubes would be a bit more effective if the plastic encasing the liquid was not quite so thick. Even touching the exterior of the ice cube before putting it into a drink, only some of the spots were cool to the touch.

It is nice, however, that they are dishwasher safe and easy to store because of their compact size. If your goal is to keep pre-chilled drinks cool longer, it is a suitable product. I would not expect them to work effectively at chilling warm drinks though. All in all, I would give it a 3 out of 5 stars. It is a decent product, but it just did not wow me.
