I chose beginner musical instruments for my kids this holiday season and, to my surprise, my kids were very taken with this 37-key keyboard. Not knowing much about instruments myself, I was, and am, learning as we play each evening we can together.
The case is solidly made; not a soft case with a hard handle and an adjustable shoulder strap. Inside the case the keyboard fits perfecly with a cleaning cloth, extension hose with a short mouthpiece, and a singular long mouthpiece. The back of the keyboard has a white plastic handle as well to ensure its stability when playing in either the sitting or standing position.
The keyboard itself is lightweight, coming in at a bit under 3 pounds. The keys are on-point with their sound when played; low to high pitch. The higher notes definitely got my kids' attention which is why I would give this a 1/2 star drop due to the inability to be able to adjust the volume. If there was a knob to be able to close slightly the sound it would be much more acoustically pleasing with the ability to adjust the sound amplification.
Our first time working this melodica instrument I videotaped my daughter; lots of lessons learned. She was goofing off a bit so, apologies on this not being quite an actual review of the instrument, but you can see it in action and how much fun it is! My eldest son is the one who actually has caught onto this more with playing the keys correctly.
So far it is holding up its own with three kids; well constructed!
