Cute but cheaply built

So, there were a few things I really liked about this dress and a few things that I did not like as much. The package was undamaged, but it was not packaged well. The dress was tossed haphazardly into a bag, as opposed to being neatly folded. Well that, or the bag was too big and the dress rolled around a lot in transport. The result though was that the dress was already rather wrinkled when I received it. It was otherwise in good condition, however. I went for the all black version of this dress as I can use black dresses for work, and I think it is a cute dress overall.

The dress appears to be about true to size, which is always a nice thing when you are ordering clothing on the internet. The fabric is comfortable, not at all itchy, and it is stretchy. The material feels most like a cheaper form of satin, but it is pleasant to touch. However, the fabric also clings to your skin quite a bit. If you are heavy set, it could cling to you which can highlight some of the weight instead of helping to mask it. The fabric is also quite thin, so I am not sure how durable the dress will be. The seams seem to be clean but not reinforced, so I would recommend going up a size if you aren’t sure of the right size as you would not want to strain the seams.

That said, the style of the dress is very nice. The skirt is flowy and easy to move in. It is long enough to be appropriate for business casual workplaces if paired with a blazer or sweater, but still short enough to fit a more casual environment as well. It is very light weight, which is great as we are approaching the heat of summer where I live. It is even appropriate for the gym or sports if you are comfortable with moving in a dress. The dress is sleeveless which is nice for moving and for a summer dress.

Overall, I would only give this dress a 3 of 5 stars. It is cute, but I am not sure it would withstand a lot of stress and the fabric does appear a bit too thin for my comfort. Still, for $15.99 on Amazon, it is a dress that I would consider buying again.
