My oldest in 8th grade and informed me he needs a compass for math. They are working on angles and he has had to borrow one from the teacher every day. I felt this set would be one he could use and at a price of less than $10 I figured it would be a good addition to his school supplies.
It comes in a nice plastic storage case that won't break when heavier items bump it in his backpack. The case has a solid snapping device to keep it locked, so no worries of it opening and spilling the contents. It is about the size of a pencil case, so is not overly large and bulky.
The set includes a graphic compass, a small pencil, a sharpener, a straight ruler, a protractor, two triangle rulers, and an eraser. The rulers all have centimeter and millimeter readings, but no inches which I found odd. The rulers are all average in thickness, so CAN break if enough pressure is put on them, but they should last if used properly. The compass is adjustable so you can get the tension you want without your pencil slipping, and you can use any pencil in it that you like. The measurements all appear to be accurate and are easy to read on the clear plastic.
For the price, this is a decent set. I had planned to buy the compass and protractor from the dollar store if they had it, so quality-wise, I am happy with what I have here. I am sure you can buy higher quality items from a school supply store or office store, but for what we need, this is perfect. Nice little set!
