My husband has been using a safety razor for the past few years and loves it. We don't keep disposable razors in the house for him any more because he can't stand them after using his safety razor. And when my oldest started shaving, we started him with disposables. But he wanted a safety razor, too, so for Christmas he got his own shaving set. Now my youngest is getting to the age where we need to start him on shaving and we decided rather than go the disposable route, we will just start him out with his own set. I have picked up piece after piece, with the razor being the last thing we needed.
I love the fact that this safety razor has a case it comes in. It is perfect for storage and travel. It houses is nicely and keeps it in place. Plus it makes it look nicer when giving as a gift rather than a cardboard box like my oldest son got at Christmas.
In this package you have the razor, carrying case, a small box of razors, and a brush to help clean it.
The razor itself is nice, being a bright silver color thanks to the chrome finish. It has a textured handle for a better grip. The bottom twists which opens the top. It is not overly heavy, but feels substantial in your hands. It doesn't feel cheap or flimsy, but has some weight to it. When I first saw it, I thought it looked smaller than my husband's safety razor, but it is not. It is about the same size and about the same weight. He said he has never heard of the brand name, but it seems like a well made razor and operates the same as his.
The case is a blue plastic that snaps together to hold it shut. It opens to reveal the razor with a place to hold the box of blades. On the top inner portion of the case is a small mirror, though you probably won't use that for anything because it IS so small. There is nothing to secure the razor or blades in place, though there are slots that cradle them so that when the case is closed they stay put.
This looks to be a great starter safety razor for my youngest. He is excited to have his own. Now he just needs enough peach fuzz on his face to shave it off! The problem is he is so blonde it is hard to tell if he has any hair yet!
