My wife has been going on about wanting a waxing kit for a while now. She's a beauty therapist and wanted to have her own kit at home so she can wax herself in comfort rather than at the salon. We'd been looking around for one for a little while now so when I got a chance to review this I jumped at it.
Now, I should state now that although I'm writing the review I am basing it upon what my wife has told me as I wouldn't know what I was doing with the kit and don't have a practical working knowledge of it myself.
My wife says the wax heater itself is very good and is exactly what she's been looking for. It looks smart, has easy to use controls, just a the one dial controlling the temperature as well as turning it on and off. The temperate is displayed on the dial in Fahrenheit rather than Celsius which is a little annoying but not the end of the world. When turned on the wax takes roughly 30 to 40 minutes to melt and be ready to use.
This kit comes with 20 wooden spatulas to apply the wax with and three packs of hard wax. Unfortunately the wax is what lets this kit down. Although it melts well and is easy to apply it isn't particularly good at getting out tougher hair such as those found on your legs or bikini line, but it works well on fine hairs. It is also quite fiddly to rip off once the wax has set. My wife suggests getting a different type of wax and some paper waxing strips to wax these areas the old fashioned way.
So would I recommend this kit? If you're looking for a good wax melter then yes, but make sure you order a different wax and paper strips as well so you're not disappointed with the results of the included wax.
