Arrived in the normal Amazon packet, the unit was in a square light cardboard box. The unit is packed in side the box with cardboard separator and contained the lead and unit.
The lead is approx. 120cm long and has smooth PVC exterior and feels a solid quality lead. The pad is approximately 9.5cm diameter made of black plastic and has a solid feel. The base of the pad has an anti-slip ring and the spec of the unit input output etc. Looking from the underside the sid comes up to the top surface at an angle, in this side is the power socket, note the power socket is close to the lip of the top so a spare lead I had which was longer than that supplied would not fit as the connector outer plastic was thicker, so if you are thinking of using your own lead you need to ensure it will physically fit. On the opposite side of the connector is the LED. The LED is not visible from looking at the top and once the phone is on the pad can be completely obstructed from view.
The top of the unit has an anti-slip material again all black.
Placed the phone on top and it immediately started charging, tried moving the phone (Iphone X) and found that it charged in most cases when the phone was centred on the pad, indeed was hard to put it In a position where it would not charge and be balanced on the pad.
Finally put the phone in it’s protective case and put it on the pad, again started charging, my case is just over 3.5mm (Approx) thick so very happy.
Note this unit does not come with a mains charger. I have a Ravpower multi charger and this worked perfectly. I also tried the unit using a normal Apple charger plug and it worked (not I just tried this for the review so did not test a full charge).
More than happy not to have to use the apple lighting cables that have a short shelf life.
