I recently picked up these sunglasses, not sure if it was a style I would wear personally, and definitely not sure if they would be something my husband liked, but thought I would try them out and see, regardless. I had no clue that my11-year-old would be the one who took them and has made them his own. I definitely did not see that coming and never thought this would be a style he liked. But he does, and now he is wearing them nonstop.
This set is a pair of retro style aviator sunglasses. They are done in a gold rim with green polarized lenses, and have clear ear pieces to help make the gold metal pieces more comfortable to wear. They come in multiple color combinations, allowing you to choose the colors that work best for you. You can choose the gold and green that I picked, or you can go with silver, gun grey, or black.
The sunglasses come in a hard zippered case that will protect them in your book bag (backpack) or purse. I know when I was a student I was notorious for crushing my glasses. And even now as a mom, I always choose the hardest case for my regular glasses because I know I am going to smoosh them and leave myself with pieces of glasses instead of something I can truly wear out in public. I appreciate seeing these came with a hard case, though I laughed when my son left this at home after learning that the glasses CAME with a strong case. They also have a lense cleaning cloth and a silky drawstring pouch. I did not expect to get all three of these in one package with the glasses, and all for under $20. Not a bad deal overall!
And who would have thought an 11-year-old who does not dress in a retro style at all would find them appealing? I figured if anything, my older son would want them, since he likes to shop in vintage stores and wears anything and everything he can find that is vintage styled. But it was my trendy little guy who fell in love with them and wears them around saying he looks cool in them. He had to post on Instagram as soon as he asked if he could keep them, which amused me since it is the ONLY post he has on his Instagram currently.
If you are in the market for a vintage looking pair of retro styled aviator glasses, this is a great consideration. I am glad I took the risk on no one in my family liking them and place the order since my son loves them so much.
