These get really hot and tend not to work

The lights worked fine at first, but I noticed how VERY warm they got over a few minutes. Once this happened the lights would not work correctly with the remote. These lights were not suitable for my children as they were really hot at times. This really worried me since the lights became so hot. I am not sure if there was a defect or possibly the plug I used. In that case I believe #ABCOnline should provide a plug that works best with these lights. If not, each set of lights will result in the same outcome.
