This is a dual use torch - white light and UV. You need 3x AAA batteries or you can use a single 18650 battery instead. It is solidly built and will survive drops.
As a (white light) torch, it is fine and similar to many other torches. It is quite bright and you can focus the beam from quite wide to narrow depending on whether you want a long distance but narrow beam for lighting up a path or similar or a wider beam for looking all round. But its real use is when you need UV. I bought it for curing resins and it does this fine. It is like other UV lights in that it is not truly UV only. There is a faint bluish light when you use it, so some overlap with the visible spectrum. For most applications this is fine (and can be a bonus as you can see where you are focussing the UV light), but bear it in mind if you need an invisible source. I also tested it with a UV pen, and it works fine for viewing 'invisible' UV ink.
