make your own suncatchers

My daughter and I have been staying at home as much as possible so I look for fun activities that we can do together to pass the time. I purchased this Suncatchers paint set from 3 Otters and we are enjoying making our own suncatchers with it. It comes with 18 plastic suncatchers each in a different design, 18 suction cup hooks, 6 bottle of color paint for plastic and glass, 6 tubes of glitter colors, 2 small bundles of pink cording, 4 folded paper sheets with colorful designs and 4 plastic page divider sheets. The folded paper sheets and the plastic page dividers are meant to be used to hold the suncatcher while you are painting it to protect your surfaces from accidental paint spills and splatters.

One of our tubes of glitter color had a broken lid and a little of the paint spilled out into the box during shipping. Luckily, everything was packaged nicely in plastic bags and separated from each different type of item so everything was protected from the paint spill. We chose to squeeze a little paint into each sectioned area of the suncatcher and use a small paint brush to fill in the area. The description states that it takes 2-4 hours for the paint to fully dry. We left ours for around 6 hours just to be sure that it was completely dry before hanging them in the window. We plan to use some of these suncatchers to make as gifts for the residents of an assisted living facility that we visit with our homeschool group. We plan to decorate them, let them dry and then drop them in the mail to let our friends know that, even though we can’t see them right now, that we miss them and are still thinking about them every day during this pandemic.
