It is very rugged and I would say suited for outdoor use, unlike many other laser measures in this price range, which was actually quite surprising. It definitely has made life easier, as me as I am doing a huge renovation. Things like measuring walls to see how much paint I should use, and the digital level has given me accurate readings at awkward angles. The back light feature has been a bit of a life saver and overall, this has reduced my renovation time by 30 minutes per task. It would take what it would it would feel like forever to accurately measure a wall/floor before. Its worth the price tag just to have the piece of mind that you have an accurate measurement.
