Since we are working on letter recognition, I thought this might be something we should pick up for little missie. She is not yet in preschool, thanks to lockdowns due to covid, so we are doing all early learning from home instead. I have used magnetic letters with both of my older boys and in my Special Education class when I was still teaching full time, so know the value in having them around the house. These can be used on any magnetic surface - a refrigerator, dishwasher, magnetic doors, etc. But my preference from my time teaching is to pick up cheapy cookie sheets from the dollar store and use that to practice on. As long as you have a metal cookie sheet, they should stick and you can work on letters anywhere in the house, not just in the kitchen. I was a little disapointed in the quality of these, though. They are smaller letters, not as large as I am used to using, and the magnets are not the strongest, so no matter what surface you use them with, they can easily be knocked loose and moved around. But they are a good size for her little hands. You get 104 pieces, both capital and lower case letters, in all different colors. They are all primary colors, so not only can I go over letter recognition and begin matching upper to lowercase, but we can sort by color and size, too. They come in a cylindrical tube with a handle on top, but getting them all to fit again after you dump them out makes it nearly impossible to close. The container is not the strongest and most durable either, so the twist top stripped the plastic quickly as we tried to force it shut after they didn't fit inside as neatly as when it arrived. But for the cost, the price can't be beat. And since most of them will end up lost or mixed in with her other toys, I am not complaining. There are just improvements that can be made by the manufacturer to make them better overall.
